Analysis of why colony was founded and how this affected who moved to the colony:
Maryland was founded for Catholics to have a safe place to worship. The Catholic were not popular in England as Queen Mary had persecuted several hundreds of Protestants in favorite of Catholicism. However, the king wanted to repay old favors so he granted a charter for the colony. Along with the a place of religious tolerance, profit was also kept in mind. All kinds of Christian people were able to settle in Maryland due to the Maryland Acts of Toleration except for Jews. This also allowed a good variety of settlers.
Analysis of government, geography, economy, and religion.
Maryland was a Propriety colony, so still under the influence of England. The biggest industries at the time were manufacturing and agriculture, and there were forest with tons of limber, and huge fields with fertile soil to farm in. There was no say in religion. They weren't exactly free religion, but the only worship they would not allow was the Jewish life. Overall, Maryland was a strict colony in forms or religion and government, but had huge industries and continued to grow.
